How the map helps you plan Umrah

Pilgrims, families and group leaders use the same map at every stage of the journey.

  1. Before you book a hotel

Compare hotels by the real walk to the Haram gates, not by a “distance to the mosque” line in an advert. Check whether the route is easy for elderly pilgrims or wheelchair users before you pay.

  2. When you arrive

Tell the map where you are staying and the Today screen shows the next prayer, the approximate prayer times, the Qibla direction and the walk to the mosque and back.

  3. Performing Umrah

Follow the six steps from the miqat to the barber with what to do, what to say and the duas, and use the built-in counters for the seven rounds of Tawaf and the seven lengths of Sa’i.

  4. Getting around the city

Plan a journey between any two places by walking, taxi, or bus and train where a connection exists — leave now, leave at a set time, or arrive by a deadline.

  5. Making the most of every day

Add hotels and places to a trip, give one start date, and get a day-by-day plan for Makkah and Madinah — including the Haramain train or road transfer — that you can edit and copy.

What’s on the map

What the map is — and isn’t

  • Walking times are calculated along mapped walking routes. Crowds, closed gates and your own pace change the real time.
  • Crowd levels at gates are an estimate from prayer times and the season, and the app labels them “not live data”.
  • Prayer times are approximate. Follow the adhan and the mosque’s own timetable.
  • It is a planning and wayfinding map, not live turn-by-turn navigation inside the mosques.
  • It does not sell rooms or show live hotel prices — book through your agency.

For Umrah agencies and tour operators

From the map to your operations

Pilgrims choose packages by how close the hotel is to the Haram. Send them the map link for the hotel you are selling and let them see the walk for themselves — it answers the question before it becomes a complaint.

UmrahCore is the B2B platform behind the agencies that serve those pilgrims: hotel allotments night by night, bookings and rooming, transport and ziyarat, visas, documents and finance, sold across a Master → Reseller → Agent network.

  • Hotel inventory and room blocks by night, room type and release date
  • Transport and ziyarat planned alongside each group’s hotel stay
  • One booking record from quote to visa to departure
  • Ask us about embedding the map on your agency website

Umrah map questions

Is the UmrahCore Umrah map free?

Yes. UmrahMap is free for pilgrims. The full app asks for an email the first time so your trip, hotel and notes are kept on your device — there is no password and no payment.

How do I find hotels near Masjid al-Haram?

Open the Makkah map and go to Hotels. The 469 hotels are listed nearest first with the walking distance and the gate they lead to, and you can filter by walk time (5, 10, 15 minutes or more) or search by name.

How do I find hotels near Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah?

Switch the map to Madinah and open Hotels. Each of the 332 hotels shows the walk to its nearest gate of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, such as King Fahd Gate or As-Salam Gate.

How accurate are the walking times?

They are calculated along mapped walking routes from the hotel to the gate. Real time depends on crowds, prayer times, closed gates and your pace, so treat them as a guide. Choosing “Easy pace” or “Wheelchair” changes both the route and the time.

Does the map show toilets and wudu areas?

Yes. Around Masjid al-Haram the map marks 55 toilet and wudu (ablution) areas, including underground ones, and shows the nearest to where you are.

Can I use the Makkah and Madinah maps offline?

Yes. Download the offline pack and the map, hotels and walking routes work without a connection. Building a new trip plan and live bus and train times still need a connection. On iPhone, add the app to the Home Screen so the pack is kept.

Is it real-time navigation with live crowd data?

No. It gives routes, walking times and walking directions. Gate crowd levels are an estimate from prayer times and the season, and prayer times are approximate — the app says this wherever they appear.

Which languages does the map support?

English, Arabic, Bengali, Urdu, Indonesian and Turkish. You can change the language at any time inside the app.

Is the map the same thing as UmrahCore software?

No. The map is a free tool for pilgrims made by the UmrahCore team. UmrahCore itself is B2B back-office software that Umrah and Hajj agencies use to run bookings, hotels, transport, visas and finance.

How do I find a Haram gate by its number, such as Gate 79 or Gate 3?

Type the number into the search box on the Makkah map. It lists 147 gates of Masjid al-Haram with their numbers where they have one — Gate 1 is King Abdul Aziz Gate, Gate 3 is Bab Ajyad, Gate 79 is King Fahd Gate and Gate 100 is King Abdullah Gate — and every hotel shows which gate it is closest to. The Madinah map does the same for the gates of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, numbered 1 to 41.

Which Makkah hotels are within a five-minute walk of Masjid al-Haram?

Open Hotels on the Makkah map and set the filter to 5 minutes. Distances are measured from the hotel entrance to the nearest gate — for example Al Safwah Towers (about 210 m to Gate 3, Bab Ajyad), Swissôtel Makkah (about 310 m to Gate 3), Conrad Makkah (about 340 m to Gate 79, King Fahd Gate) and Makkah Millennium (about 360 m to Gate 84), as listed in the app on 23 Oct 2026.

How far is Makkah from Madinah, and how do I travel between them?

The two cities are roughly 450 km apart. The Haramain high-speed train takes about two and a half hours between Makkah and Madinah stations; by road it is usually four to five hours. The map’s trip planner includes the train or a road transfer between your Makkah and Madinah days, and the journey planner gives walking, taxi or bus options from the station to your hotel where a connection exists.
